Research clusters
Research at AUT’s School of Future Environment spans across architecture, the built environment and creative technologies.
We are looking for solutions that cross over, sit between or outside of current modes of disciplinary thinking in order to be able to ask the questions that do not fit into any of those categories.
Our current research clusters cover future communities and future systems thinking, regenerative design, future materials, advanced construction and sustainable future and future learning environments.
Regenerative design concerns emerging theories on utilizing systems thinking, algorithmic problem-solving, knowledge creation and development of unique optimised solutions.
This research cluster explores systems thinking ranging from an indigenous relational lens to contemporary systems discourses.
Exploring creative, imaginative concepts while reducing costs in construction's human, ecological, energy, time, and financial aspects.
Inclusiveness and enabling students to build knowledge based on their aspirations to realise their potential.
Exploring new technologies and scientific discoveries, concern about human impacts on the environment and new theoretical perspectives
